Privacy Policy
Last updated 26 October 2026
The short version. No ads, no tracking analytics, and we never sell your data. Kids’ trivia keeps game play and any name a child types on the device. The leaderboard is public, so use a nickname.
1. Who we are
Oh My Gato! (formerly STEEP Trivia) is run by Vivere Colorado LLC, Delta, Colorado. This policy covers steeptrivia.com (also served at steep-trivia.pages.dev), the game server it connects to for rooms and the leaderboard, and Oh My Gato! purchases made on chefjoeroadhouse.com. Questions: [email protected].
2. What we keep, and why
- Leaderboard: the name you enter (up to 20 characters), an optional quote (up to 80), your score, the game mode and when you played. They’re public, which is the point of a leaderboard. We don’t store your IP address or device with an entry.
- Game rooms: the names players type in (up to 16 characters), plus their answers and scores for that game, so everyone can see who’s playing and who’s winning. A player who leaves or is removed is deleted straight away. The whole room is deleted automatically after about 6 hours without use. No IP address is stored in a room.
- Stopping abuse: to limit leaderboard spam and repeated wrong free-play codes, we keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, never the address itself, with the times you tried. We may also use your IP address or network to limit how often game rooms are opened. Once your tries are too old to count (an hour for the leaderboard, 10 minutes for free-play codes), the record is deleted the next time our clean-up runs. The clean-up runs as new tries come in, so on a quiet stretch a record can stay longer. Records from before 21 October 2026 may hold the address itself; the same clean-up deletes them.
- Room limits: to stop a pass being shared or overused, we may count how many game rooms each pass, membership or free-play code opens per day. The count is stored under a scrambled version of the pass or membership ID and deleted the next day.
- Saved stats and crews (since 28 October 2026): if you tap “Save my stats” or start or join a crew, your phone makes a random 12-letter restore code. We keep a copy of your daily results (the day, which questions were right, your score) under a scrambled version of that code, so you can restore them on another phone. We never show the code to other players. A crew keeps its name, the names members type in, who asked to join, and members’ daily results for 60 days. Members see names and daily results; the creator also sees waiting requests. Crews are for ages 13 and up and are decided by their creator. A crew’s creator can turn on a chat for that crew: its short messages, with the sender’s crew name and the time, are kept for up to 30 days (the latest 100) and are visible only to that crew’s members; the creator can delete them. Leave or close a crew in the game, or email us a crew code or restore code and we’ll delete the entries. The kids’ game has none of this.
- Daily Challenge, question stats and reminders (since 28 October 2026): when you finish a Daily Challenge, your device sends only the day, how many you got right and your score (no name, no ID), so we can show how everyone did. If you choose to put a nickname on that day’s board, we keep the nickname with that score and show it publicly; use a nickname, not your full name. After each solo game your device also sends which questions were answered right or wrong (no name, no ID), which is where “62% of players got this one” comes from. “Don’t count me” in the beta notice stops both. If you tap “Remind me each morning,” your browser gives us a push address, which we keep only to send the reminder until you turn it off; it holds no name. The kids’ game sends none of this.
- Public beta (since 26 October 2026): Oh My Gato! is in beta, and the grown-ups’ game says so when you open it. To see how it’s played and make it better, your device sends us a random device ID (made on your device, not linked to you), your device type (like “iPhone” or “Windows”), the days and pages you visited, and your game stats (mode, questions answered, how many right, score, time played, bonuses seen and your last 12 games). If you choose to answer “What did you think?” after a game, we keep your star rating, whether you’d play again and anything you write. No names, no IP addresses, no location and nothing about which answers you picked. Tap “Don’t count me” in the beta notice and your device stops sending anything. The kids’ game sends none of this.
- Earlier beta testers (that beta ended on 21 October 2026): a random device ID, the name on your invite, your device type, the days and pages you visited, your invite links and who invited you, and your game stats (games played, time, scores and your last 12 games). No IP addresses and no answer content.
- On your own device: your settings, best scores, the names you type, the room you’re in, the questions you’ve seen and your pass or membership are saved in your browser’s storage. The pass contains an internal reference to your purchase. If your device was in the beta test, it may still hold a beta ID and invite name. Oh My Gato! itself sets no cookies. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes all of it.
- Passes: passes are sold on chefjoeroadhouse.com, which Vivere Colorado LLC also runs. For a monthly or yearly membership we keep your name, phone, email and language, your Stripe customer and subscription numbers, your plan, renewal and cancel dates, and a note that you agreed to the renewal terms. These sit in the same customer records as Chef Joe at Roadhouse. Your membership is managed from a Chef Joe SMASH card page in your name, and that site may set a sign-in cookie that lasts up to a year. For a $1.99 Game Night Pass we keep only the payment reference, the amount and the time; Stripe collects your email for its receipt, and we don’t store it. Stripe handles your card, and we never see the full card number. We use this to run your pass and answer your questions.
- Emails: any payment receipt comes from Stripe. We use your email and phone to run your membership, send you a link to your SMASH card when needed, and reply to you.
3. Who else is involved
- Cloudflare hosts Oh My Gato!, runs the game rooms and the leaderboard, and protects the site. Like any web host, it handles your IP address to deliver pages.
- Stripe processes payments.
- Google Fonts and cdnjs deliver the fonts and the QR-code library, so they see your IP address when they load.
We don’t sell or rent personal information, we don’t share it for advertising, and Oh My Gato! has no ad or analytics trackers.
My Gato Way duels. A duel stores the nickname you enter, your count of right answers and when you last answered, with a hashed player handle (never your player card), for up to 30 days, or 7 days after the game ends. Only your opponent sees your name and score. Email us the game code and we will delete it.
4. Kids
For parents. Oh My Gato! is made for ages 13 and up. It is not for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. You decide what your child uses:
- For kids under 13: Mimi’s Trivia sends nothing a child plays or types off the device, and has no accounts, leaderboard, crews, chat or payments.
- If your 13 to 17 year old plays Oh My Gato!: they can use a nickname, and a parent or guardian should know they’re playing. A crew shows the names members type and daily scores, and, only if the crew’s creator turns it on, a chat among that crew’s members. The creator decides who joins, can delete messages and can turn chat off. Chat is not available in the kids’ game.
- To keep it off a child’s device, use your phone or browser’s parental controls to block or limit this site. We can’t check anyone’s age.
- To stop counting or delete: tap “Don’t count me” in the beta notice to stop anonymous play counts from that device. Email us a crew code, restore code or the name you used and we’ll delete it.
Kids’ trivia at /kids/ sends nothing a child plays or types off the device. A first name or nickname typed into the game, best scores and seen questions are saved only in that browser. There are no accounts, no leaderboard, no rooms and no tracking. The page does load its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google sees the device’s internet address, as it would for most websites. If a grown-up emails us from the page’s feedback link, we use that email only to reply.
The main game and leaderboard are for ages 13 and up. If you think a child under 13 has put information on the leaderboard, email us and we’ll delete it.
5. How long we keep it
- Game rooms (names, answers, scores): deleted automatically within about 6 hours of the room’s last use.
- Leaderboard entries: until they drop out of the top 100 for that game mode, you ask us to remove them, or we reset the board. Leaderboards from the beta test stay up until we take them down.
- Abuse-limit records: see “Stopping abuse” above.
- Daily room counts: deleted the next day.
- Public beta and beta tester records, including ratings and comments: kept until we delete them. Ask and we’ll delete yours sooner. A short list of blocked invite links tied to the device ID, and invite seat counts, may be kept to stop reuse.
- Purchase and contact records: kept while you’re a member and afterwards for tax and accounting records. Ask us and we’ll delete your contact details, except what the law says we must keep.
6. Your choices
Email [email protected] to ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or to correct or delete it. That covers leaderboard entries, beta records, and purchase and contact records on chefjoeroadhouse.com. We’ll answer within 30 days. For pass records, write from the email you used at checkout, or we’ll ask you to confirm it’s you. For leaderboard entries, tell us the name, quote, game mode and roughly when you played. Abuse-limit records are tied to an internet address, not a name, so we may not be able to find yours. We offer these choices to everyone, whether or not a privacy law requires it. We may need to keep records the law requires.
7. Security
We protect Oh My Gato! with reasonable safeguards: HTTPS on every page, passes digitally signed so they can’t be changed or made up, and admin tools locked behind a private key only Vivere Colorado LLC holds. No system is perfectly secure. If something goes wrong that affects your information, we’ll tell you as the law requires.
8. Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already hold, we say so clearly first.
